Cause

Since 1984 the Tumour Foundation of BC has supported individuals and families dealing with the rare genetic condition: Neurofibromatosis (NF). NF causes the uncontrollable growth of tumours on the nerves and increases the likelihood of hearing/vision loss, scoliosis, learning disabilities, bone deformities and a higher risk of certain cancers. There is no accessible treatment or cure for NF.

TFBC is the only organization in BC that provides support, advocacy and community for those affected by NF. It also creates educational resources and guides for families and health care professionals. As of 2026 there is no dedicated place for people in BC to receive specialized and dedicated NF care and many doctors are not familiar with it.

Our mission is to make sure that no one affected by neurofibromatosis will have to walk this journey alone.
